Summary: Stress buster plus!
Comment: I first experienced a Homedics Shiatsu massage cushion at a sister's home, and decided I needed one. I decided on this model, and am glad that I did. I am one of those lucky people who get back spasms from stress. The Homedics SBM-300H is a fantastic stress buster. Being able to select between shiatsu and a rolling massage, being able to adjust the width of the massage heads, being able to apply heat or not - you can get the massage that you need when you need it. This is a great product, but can't say yet if the price is worth it as longevity of product is a deciding factor there, and I just got this little gem.

Summary: Easily Pays for Itself
Comment: After reading the reviews here, I decided to purchase this model, SBM-300H, and return a less expensive chair massager back to walmart (it was similar to the SBM-200, but it was the walmart brand). It was a good decision. The previous chair massage pad only had the shiatsu massage and a choice of full, upper or lower massage. This model, 300H, has rolling and shiatsu massage, width adjustment (for the rolling massage) and a spot massage (for the shiatsu) which will focus the massage in one area. The spot massage alone is worth the extra money. If you feel a sore spot, you can pause the rollers right there and work that area. This was absolutely impossible to do with my previous massage chair pad.
That being said, the massage does not go quite as high up on my shoulders as I would like, so I find myself scooting down and back so that it will work my trapezoids.
The heat works quickly and well. This is important because you want your muscles to be warm and loose for the deep tissue work. This will lessen the soreness. With my previous chair the heat took much longer to work.
This chair provides a good moderate massage. It's not too light and it's not too deep. The previous massage chair (for any of you considering saving a buck with the massage cushion from walmart) was much to deep. It was extremely rough. This one provides a nice balance. Once again, it's well worth the extra money.
I enjoy deep tissue massages and would try to work out the tension in my back with tennis balls when I couldn't afford to go to the massage therapist. The SBM-300H does a better job than the tennis balls with much less work. Nothing is quite as good as a trip to an actual massage therapist, but this massage cushion runs a close second.

Comment: Just received this product as a gift. several of the features worked BUT, for the most part, the unit was defective. It does not appear that Homedics does much to ensure an inspection is done before the units are shipped. Their web site also could have been more helpful.

Summary: good but could be better
Comment: I have many back tension issues and was looking for something to help out. When I first got this I was very impressed- all of the functions work just as descibed and I was in heaven! I have been using it for a month or two and it does not have the full motion that it originaly had. When I'm sitting in it, it stops at the bottom of my shoulder blades and stops at just a little lower than half down my back. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, maybe I just have a defective item. Back feels much better now none-the-less, with a lot of shifting haha.

Summary: Heat makes all the difference!!
Comment: I own the previous model to this and did not find it all that effective. After reading the reviews I decided to buy this, which seems identical except heat was added. The heat has made a huge difference and makes it so much more effective. I am so glad I upgraded.
Although I have not tried the higher model (quad), from reading the reviews and from experience, I think this is a better choice in order to focus the massage at one spot.
I would give it 5 stars but for two points. I have to sit on a cushion to get it all the way down to my lower back just above the SI joints. Also, one improvement would be to make the width adjustable in shiatsu mode.
Once again, well worth the upgrade.
